I believe that a teacher's role is not to tell students what to think, but to show them HOW to think, and to challenge accepted notions about the way the world works. Since graduating from college in 1989, I have been fortunate enough to teach in middle and high schools, colleges and universities across the country, from Hawaii to New York to Massachusetts to New Mexico.

As a Vermont-based public speaker interested in media literacy education, I enjoy visiting and talking with people in classrooms and communities in Vermont and throughout the country. In my travels, I am always reminded that our schools are full of incredibly talented, well-meaning, bright young people. And as a teacher at Vermont's Champlain College, I am able to marry U.S. and global history, media literacy education, and service learning to create multimedia courses that help us envision a better world, even as we learn from the successes and failures of the past.
